Since 2004, Concrete Reflections Inc., a leader in concrete polishing has been serving Maine and the New England area with high quality concrete polished floors within commercial facilities, warehouses, retail spaces, educational institutions and transportation terminals. However, in addition to concrete polishing, Concrete Reflections Inc. also offers grinding and preparation of new and old floors over 1,000 feet in order to set up the surface for floor covering and resurfacing.

A concrete floor that is scheduled for polishing, a painted surface, wax or epoxy coating or any special covering must be prepared properly by applying a grinding process. If grinding does not take place or if it is not done correctly then the flooring that will be applied will not adhere correctly and will eventually fail.

The reasons for prepping and grinding a floor is quite simple, if the facility is new, then the new concrete is too tight at the surface and if it is not prepared properly by grinding then the floor that will be installed will not adhere correctly. This is the same for old concrete. Old concrete is dirty and contains various imperfections. If the bare concrete is not prepared properly by a grinding process then the new floor applied will fail over time.

Depending on the sate of the concrete, preparation and grinding of a concrete floor is not overly complicated and can be achieved with just a few steps. A Concrete Reflections Inc. crew uses heavy grinders to open the concrete surface and clean it of all contaminants, which will leave it porous and ready for the selected floor covering. Each machine is equipped with diamond-impregnated disks that are attached to multiple spinning wheels under the machine. The rotation of these wheels on the concrete floor, grind the surface, removing imperfections and leveling the floor. The dust that is produced from the concrete extraction is contained by a shroud lining the outside of the machine's base and then vacuumed through hoses attached to the machine and a high-powered vacuum. The results are a fully grinded floor that has been prepared and ready for the floor covering of choice.
